The Barnswallows enjoy donating quilts to worthy causes almost as much as we love making them.
Every year we make receiving blankets which are distributed to new babies through local charities. The self-binding receiving blankets are a favourite of the guild.
We also host an auction table at our annual spring quilt show featuring a handmade quilt and items donated from our guild members and local merchants. The proceeds from the auction table and the show enable us to give generously to the South Central Cancer Resource and Boundary Trails Health Centre for women’s needs.
Barnswallow member Nan Fieber made these gorgeous hexagon quilts. They were hand stitched together, a labor of love while Nan sat with her mother on her final journey. Fellow Barnswallow Katie Friesen donated the quilting to them and they were given to Genesis House. The generosity of our members continues to inspire.
In 2014 we made a special quilt for the Tabor Home building project. It truly was a labor of love and it raised $1,000 for the new senior’s home in Morden, helping fill an important need in our community.
