Hello Barnswallows. Our dear president, Pearl, is the recipient of the February 2017 Crocus Award from Manitoba Prairie Quilters. The write up below appeared in the May-June 2017 issue of Prairie Patches, the MPQ newsletter. Congratulations, Pearl!
Pearl Braun-Dyck, our February 2017 Crocus Award recipient, is a most talented quilter, appliquér, mentor, teacher, and a true inspiration to us all. She must have come out of the womb with an idea, a needle and some thread in her tiny hands. She is devoted to family and friends, has a great sense of humour, and is willing to help any quilter in need of advice or ideas.
Pearl once owned a thriving, cozy, and vibrant quilt shop. She always made her customers feel so wel- come. Being extremely knowledgeable about fabrics, patterns and techniques, she helped her customers leave the shop happy and satis ed with their choices. She has attended and organized many quilt shows and her weekend hand stitching retreat has been ongoing for 29 years.
Pearl is a founding member and great supporter of the Manitoba Prairie Quilters. We, as well as other organizations, have been privileged to have her present trunk shows of her exquisite work and teach us the techniques she uses to achieve her art. On top of everything else, several of us can attest to the fact that she is a bread and bun baker extraordinaire.
